UNIT: Artist Research Project
Lesson: Artist Research - Choice of Media
Title: Art in the Style of...
Grade Level: High School
Procedure:
Below are two activities that should be fun to do. Only select ONE for your assignment. You may do the other ones in your spare time (smile). If you wish, you may do more than one assignment for extra credit.
Parody or Satire A work that imitates the characteristic style of another work, either for comic effect or ridicule. Parody is a basic metaphor or comparison. Also known as appropriation, content, caricature, homage, and satire.
Homage - Special acknowledgment or respect shown or expressed publicly to persons whose influence an artist wishes to honor. You can show this by duplicating a famous work in its entirety or by using key elements of an artist’s style in recognition of them.
Pastiche - A work of art made by imitating and combining several styles of other artist’s works. Often a pastiche is made in order to ridicule the style of the artist it imitates.
